Colin McRae Rally 04
As a gamer through the 80’s I have played my share of games. Racing/driving games both simulation and arcade have always held real estate on my shelves and in my heart. I love driving and I love driving games. When I first started playing rally games nothing at the time came even close to Colin Mcrae Rally games by my favorite developer/publisher Codemasters. In my opinion Codemasters are one of the top racing game makers for the past 3 Console generations.
Colin Mcrae Rally 04 was released March 4 2004 for my machine of choice the Xbox. Never had I played a racing game quite like this. The reality of it all seemed surreal. Even to this day when I go back and play it I still see the magic. The game play, the controls and the physics all made for a complete rally experience.
8 countries and 52 stages of Rally genius. 6 Championships to contend with that took you through the trials of Rally racing with varying locations. The game play was and is amazing still to this day. Watching the car fly down the dirt track and watching the dust kick up as the tires and suspension respond to the bumpy road made it feel like you were really there. After the race you watch the replay and as the camera angles switch you get to see what the people saw as you flew past them at break neck speed. To me…
