We all have a need to leave the “real world” for a while and escape to something that helps us forget the stress and burdens placed on us.
Turn your back on the world too much and what happens? We fall behind, or we lose track. Escaping is great but we can’t lose focus on what we need to go back to.
Music can take us on a journey of the senses. We can enjoy all the great feelings of nostalgia listening to the music we grew up on. When that old song comes on the radio or whatever medium you’re listening to, your head bobs, sometimes you start bellowing the lyrics. We get that excited warmth from a fire relit on an old memory. It is an amazing emotion to experience.
Let the music take you to emotional places that only exist when we are alone and completely vulnerable to ourselves.
Writing makes us engage in our minds and imaginations on a level that is undeniably amazing. Write a story, fiction, from start to finish. Where did that journey take you? Write about something you are passionate about. How hard was it to pick and choose exactly the right words to get your message across? The fun and safe stress of it all is a great place to keep your mind…
