Growing up I never had a Gameboy of my own. I had to borrow my cousin’s just so I could lode myself in Tetris for hours and hours. I never had a GBA. I never got to enjoy the amazing colours and sounds of Zelda and Mario on that great console. I did however get a DS I. That little machine changed my view on gaming forever.

Let me explain…

Playing borrowed gaming consoles isn’t the same as actually owning your own. Getting a feel for your own handheld is actually a real thing. Getting used to the grip. Getting to understand how your buttons feel to press, understanding the sweet spots. If you're a hardcore gamer you understand. Even if you're not hardcore into gaming I'm sure you'll understand. If you lose your stylus, that first time, it seems the end of the world. It’s a funny thing.

I learned though, I learned quickly. The DSLite was the one to own. It could play Gameboy and GBA games. What devilish spawn of Beelzebub is this? Backwards compatibility to play entire libraries of multiple iterations of Nintendo handheld consoles. Simply put, it can do it all!!! Getting that console sealed the deal. Nintendo had me by the…. handheld(s).
